Blog 176 – Your Fortress Self

In order to fulfill your intention to have a worldly life experience, it becomes necessary for you to believe in your separation from God and everyone else. To guarantee your belief in your creation of your physical life in the world, your ego has developed a dramatic story in order to fulfill the experiences that you are seeking for yourself. Deep within yourself you have built a fortress to protect and defend the “Self”, your Ego has created. Behind high walls of guilt and fear, within your separated mind, where your inner child resides, you protect your innermost thoughts and feelings. These walls protect you from anyone getting too close and entering your personal, private space. In this way, you can maintain distance and separation between your true nature and all others, including God. In deep vaults within the hallways of your mind, you accumulate the memories of all of your worldly experiences both “good” and “bad”. In the fortress of your mind you lock them away thereby repressing the secrets, experiences and feelings that you express as joy and love or feelings that you express as a result of being deeply wounded, hurting and in pain.

You hide your genuine thoughts and feelings from all others. You bury deep within you the many sins and shortcomings that you believe you have committed against yourself and others. Within your secret fortress you believe that you are safe and protected from those around you, including God. Your inner sanctum becomes the sacred place for you to honour, protect and defend your innermost thoughts and feelings about yourself and others. From this place, your ego can form its judgments, condemnations and seek retribution against all of those who you have perceived in your mind have wronged you. From deep within your fortress, through the thoughts in your mind your ego can manipulate and attack those around you whom it views as a threat to your person-hood. In this way, your ego guarantees your belief in your separation from your fellow human beings and God, as it glorifies your concept of your separated personality in the world. This is how you create the imaginary life story in the world that provides you with learning and personal growth through the experiences you have created for yourself..

The creation of your Fortress Self may reflect your experiences in your physical world but does not represent your reality. This personality is not who you are. God through His Holy Spirit provides you with numerous opportunities for you to escape and find the freedom from the prison that your ego has created in your mind. Through Divine intervention in your worldly life, God provides the opportunity for you to become aware of your true spiritual nature . This results in you awakening from your imagined physical life in your illusionary world and discovering the truth of your true spiritual identity and your relationship to God and All That Is Divine.
